Santa Claus will be lending a hand to the growing sport of curling in England in December – or to be precise, 24 of them will!
Fenton’s Rink in Kent is holding the World’s First Santa Claus Bonspiel, which will see 24 Santas on the ice.
The event is in aid of local charity, Hospice in The Weald, so although the ice is free, donations will be appreciated.
The day is also being filmed for sale to various news/sports outlets, with agreements already with Reuters, AP, Transworld Sport, Chris Evans radio Show, BBC Mike Bushell.
Hopefully this fun charity event will help spread the word further about the only curling rink in England – thanks Santa!

Fenton’s Rink in Kent held another ‘Come and Try’ day on Sun 23rd Nov. These days do exactly what they say, allow anyone to turn up without booking and have a go at curling.
It means newcomers to the sport can get a taste without the need to book an entire lane.
Around 45 people turned up, and a great time was had by all, with many taking leaflets and asking how they could play again.
It’s a great initiative to hold these events – there is another planned for January, so if it’s something you’d be interested in, visit the rink site for more info, or give us a call!

As part of continuing efforts to develop English curling, the rink held an umpiring course on Sat 15th Nov.
Taken by Senior WCF umpire Leslie Ingram-Brown, it was a great success, providing the opportunity for people to learn about the role of umpire, and what is involved in that important voluntary post.
Thanks to Leslie for helping us to develop the sport from grass roots upwards!
